(that won't break the bank!)

Find long, flowy dresses for your summer photo session.

Fall photo session season is almost upon us!

If you’re a mom thinking of booking a session, you’re probably already looking for outfit ideas for everyone in your family.  Well, I’d like to suggest that you, mom, figure out YOUR OUTFIT first – before you pick out anyone else’s!  Find something you love and feel great in and then build everyone else’s outfits to coordinate with what you’ve selected for yourself.

Personally, I really love the long, flowy look which I think looks amazing in a natural setting like a grassy field or among flowers. If you agree, Amazon makes it quite easy to find very pretty (and affordable) dresses that are perfect for this type of session – helping you achieve an adorable Boho feel which I think is gorgeous.  I’m linking to a few really adorable ones I found on Amazon below.  Add a cute hat and some fun accessories, and you – MOM – are pretty much ready for your session!

Bonus, while these dresses will help you look and feel like a million bucks, each is under $50! If you click on a dress you like, you’ll go straight to Amazon for all the details.

Please note that I have not purchased these items myself, and I’m recommending them solely based on their cute style and the fact that they appear to have good reviews from past purchasers. The links to the dresses below are affiliate links that allow me to earn a small commission if you purchase through the link – at no additional cost to you.

What’s nice about Amazon is that you can find everything you need in one place, and returns are easy.  Also, if there’s a style you really like, chances are it’s available in a variety of colors and sizes, so it’s easy to find exactly what you’re looking for.

OK, so let’s say you’ve found your perfect dress.  Now, let’s look at a few cute accessories to complete the look!  They’re so pretty, but again, won’t break the bank.

OK – so once you’ve found your dress, what then?  What do you do about everyone else?  Well, if your dress has a pattern of some type, pull colors from your dress and find items that coordinate with those colors.  For example, if your dress has orange and pink  flowers with green leaves, maybe someone else can wear a shirt in a similar shade of green (even a patterned shirt with that shade). Of course, if you have a solid-color dress, find a pattened item for someone containing the color of your dress. You don’t need to be too matchy…just coordinated. Here is an image posted by JustPostedBlog.com that illustrates this perfectly:

Nothing matches.  Even the patterns worn by all the boys are different, but they’re similar – each pulling from colors someone else is wearing. Also take note that there’s a mix of solids and patterns and the solid colors are all pulled from the various patterns. It all works together perfectly!

WHAT NOT TO DO: STRESS OUT

After all this, I know it sounds a bit silly for me to say this, but please don’t stress about what you will be wearing. Yes, it’s fun to get cute outfits for photos, but remember that it’s the love, laughter and connection between the members of your family that will mean the most when you’re looking at your photos years from now – not the clothing.  Just always keep that in mind. 🙂
